Privacy Policy Statement

The following policy statement will be included in all relevant documents distributed by the organisation.

The National Privacy Principles (NPPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 apply to all personal information about individuals that is held by this organisation. 

SOLAS collects personal information about people to enable the organisation to provide disability support services, based on individual need. 

All information collected is necessary for the provision of support services. 

All confidential information obtained in the course of the service provision will be maintained in a secure manner by the organisation, through a range of security measures, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988.

Personal information will not be disclosed to others without the permission of the individual except in compelling ethical or legal situations.

The organisation's funding bodies require the organisation to provide data on consumers who access the service, in accordance with the funding agreements. The data enables statistics about support services and service users to be compiled and to ensure the provision of quality services. 

The information will be kept confidential and will not be used to affect entitlements or access to services. 

People are able to ask for his/her own personal information at any time and be provided with copies as requested, subject to some exceptions allowed by law.
