SOLAS' Programs represent the philosophy of themes that underpin the core values supporting recovery-oriented service provision. A person's journey of recovery belongs to the individual and is based on needs specific to that person's Individual Service Support Plan. SOLAS facilitates a strengths-based framework incorporating the common elements of recovery including hope, empowerment, community inclusion and connectedness.

Recovery-oriented services facilitate and aid natural support networks, peer support and self help, vocational rehabilitation/employment and housing, involving all stakeholders that work to support individuals on their unique journey of recovery. SOLAS promotes the concepts of individual self-determination, taking responsibility to make individual choices, being active and participating in their own recovery plans and processes.

Recovery emphasises the need for comprehensive community based service system that works in a cohesive and positive manner to address the full impact of mental ill health. SOLAS works collaboratively with people, families, support networks and all sectors of the community that are involved with meeting the needs of people with mental illness.
