Carers provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness or who are frail.  More than one in eight Australians provide care of this kind.The purpose of Carers Queensland is to improve the lives of carers.  We provide important services like counselling, advice, advocacy, education and training.  We also promote the recognition of carers to governments, businesses and the public.

The Community Information Centre Townsville Inc (CIC) is a not-for-profit community organisation funded primarily by Townsville City Council. The Centre was established in 1976 as a volunteer organisation and has since continued to provide information to residents, a wide range of community groups and government departments.It provides current, accurate and comprehensive information and referral to Townsville and Thuringowa.

Food Relief NQ is supported by a strong, dedicated band of volunteers; our volunteers choose the day and hours that they wish to work. Without volunteers Food Relief NQ could not exist.

Registered welfare and community groups such as Lifeline, St Vincent de Paul Society, Salvation Army, NQ combined Women's Services, and Community & Aged Care Service just to name a few are then able to distribute Family Food Hampers to the needy at a far reduced cost.

Lifeline North Queensland provides many services to the community. It provides a 24 hour Telephone Crisis Counselling at the cost of a local call. A face to face counselling service is also available.

The Mental Illness Fellowship of North Queensland Inc. Was formed in 1986 by and for people living with schizophrenia and other mental illnesses, their families and carers. The Fellowship is a grass roots, voluntary organisation with a small permanent staff who support people with mental illness and their families to lead full and meaningful lives in their communities.
